Excellent berth location and facilities

September 2024: Easy to enter in any tide or wind conditions, even in the night. Well marked pontoons sorted by size with easy guest docking with wide side tie docks. My wife and I sailed in at night, having experienced a propeller failure close by at sea. We were able to sail in at night and easily tie up with the wide lanes and high protective seawalls. Payment and facilities codes are available via app. An excellent modern marina investing in upgrades to the sturdy floating docks. It has modern, clean, spacious, well lit showers, restrooms, and multi machine laundry with folding tables. Lots of restaurants and a bus stop with credit card access every half hour on bus 382 to the Ijmuden center or stay on to the Slauterdyke Main Train station to Amsterdam or the Airport. There is an on premise boat yard with Travel Lift to haul our 42 foot full keel sailboat without damaging our sonar pod or removing or loosening rigging. Best of all is Nic, the yard manager, he hauled us perfectly on the first lift as soon as we were ready. Some yards take 3 or even 4 tries to get it right. He also arranged to tow our boat off the dock and place us under the lift with two dingies. Rates by US standards are very reasonable with secure metal cradel storage against 45 knot gusts, Nic arranged for a propeller expert to come, access the technical aspects of the situation, and take confirming measurements suggesting 3 paths forward, and all on his personal time, and he wouldn't take payment. Ultimately that prop experts machinist was on vacation and wouldn't be able to move forward quickly. So again Nic came to the rescue convincing the owner, Alex, of overbooked BoatCaptain, an on site technical service, to confirm measurements. US drive shafts have a different taper ratio than EU shafts. Alex order the propeller to be machined and installed in a week. US companies needed 14 weeks plus shipping. The professionalism and genuine care we experienced here can not be overstated. We feel incredibly lucky 6,000 miles from homeport of Miami to have found Nic and this marina. A marina with good mooring facilities. Visitor berths are finger pontoons but there are also additional piles to tie up to. The dunes and beach is just 5-10 min walk away. A good place for sunset. Very limited choice for groceries and eating out though…

Excellent location, berths and services. The staff in the office and Harbour Master were incredibly kind and helpful. The marina is a large size and so plenty of spare berths. Good facilities and some local shops and food outlets. The location is great for a North Sea crossing, heading to the Baltic and also straight into the North Sea Canal, to Amsterdam and the inland waters.
